DO NOT PASS GO by Robert C. Ford Some came to vandalize Some came to loot Some for fresh air Some even to protest Marker on cardboard To some it’s just words To others a verbal sword A commandment from the Lord Should I let my hair grow long? Should I shave my head bald? Extremes are deadly (sin) Moderation heavenly (virtue) Everyone has a song to sing Some even a partner to dance Are you willing to risk arrest? Are you willing to risk death? Mama, I can’t breathe 11th Grade Junior Prom Too nervous to dial her number Mama… New Year’s comes faster each year Someday Sirius will guide us to bliss

The Wolves Have Thrown Us To The Wolves by Erik T. Johnson I. Yeah, the country, the city’s gone to pot, sucks, man A citizen’s life no more than a double-dunked dental dam scudding down the Hudson O, Dude, shit—I mean shit, but they’ve got us screwed Tear-gassed, run over, pepper-sprayed and pellet-shot The wolves have thrown us to the wolves. And those fangs ain’t no joke But, here’s the good part: Now we finally get to howl like we mean it II. So hear me my friend come be my promise-brother, sworn-sister my family who speaks love through chants a thousand-mouths wide: If they’re gonna Kick our kidneys with steel-toed boots Lay on the hot cock-tongs Crunch with truncheons Fuck with our fingernails Well, shit, then Let’s scream like we more than mean it From a place where purpose is weakness Let our howls be the weapons That finally deafens the bastards So they never get to hear another confession
